The GHF has begun working to address the daunting challenges faced by immigrants renting homes.

The Good Helper Foundation contributed to the joy of an immigrant family from the DRC to find comfortable accommodation.

This family of 4, including two minor school-age children, spent many months in different hotels here in Maine, one located in South Portland (Home 2 Suites)and the other in Saco (Comfort Inn  Saco Old Orchard Beach).

The Good Helper Foundation negotiated with a building owner as a third party in favor of the family until the actual signing of the contract.

The Good Helper Foundation provided transportation for the move and helped acquire household furniture, mattresses, box springs, beds, tables and chairs.

In order to ensure the family’s utility needs were met in their new home, steps were taken to open different accounts: CMP for electricity, Natural Gas for heating and an internet account to allow the family to stay connected.

The joy of the family was at its height when the eldest son was enrolled successfully into his new school.
In response to all they have benefited from, listen to the parents’ expressions of gratitude:

Grace (Dad): “We are better at home! It has been a long time since we had a home but now that we have one, we say thank you to the GHF for your help and assistance. We really hope it doesn’t end with us, but that you can continue to help others too.”

Patricia(Mum) :  “I’m very happy, my children finally have a place to sleep. I’ve a kitchen to prepare meals that i missed so much. Thank you very much Good Helper Foundation….”
