Driving is more than a daily task—for some, it’s a real key to a better life. That’s certainly true for Anne-Flore, a participant in the Good Helper Foundation program, who shares her story of gaining independence through learning to drive.

Training Adapted to Real-Life Needs

Far from being a burden, the driving lessons were a smooth and accessible experience for Anne-Flore. As a single mother of a self-sufficient teenage daughter, she didn’t face major scheduling difficulties and appreciated the affordable cost and flexible hours offered.

What made the biggest difference, however, was that the Good Helper Foundation offers, as an additional service, driving lessons delivered in the learners’ native language. This extra support allowed Anne-Flore to follow instructions more easily, better understand safety rules, and most importantly, build confidence behind the wheel.

A Real Change in Daily Life

Before earning her license, Anne-Flore’s daily commute was exhausting: waking up at 5 a.m., catching a bus at 6 a.m. to start work at 9, and returning home around 6:30 p.m. It was a draining routine that took a toll on her quality of life.

Everything changed after she got her driver’s license. She gained independence, energy, and valuable time back. “I don’t have to wake up at 5 anymore,” she told us with relief. Even better, her new mobility strengthened her professional standing: she can now accompany clients, respond to urgent needs, and be more engaged in her work.

She even admitted that she nearly lost her job due to not having a license, and that earning it just in time may have saved her position.

A Driving Practice Program Launched by the Association

To support more women in situations like Anne-Flore’s, the Good Helper Foundation has launched a driving practice support program specifically designed to help individuals obtain their driver’s license. This initiative is especially accessible to single mothers, who often face financial or logistical barriers on the path to independence. If you are in a similar situation or know someone who could benefit from this program, don’t hesitate to Contact Us for more information or to register for the next session.
